Beginner Guitar

Always wanted to learn guitar? This beginner-friendly class is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of guitar playing in a fun and encouraging environment. Students will learn basic chords, strumming patterns, rhythm, music notation, proper technique, and instrument care while building the skills needed to play simple songs. Through guided instruction, practice, and group activities, students will develop musical confidence, coordination, listening skills, and an appreciation for music. No prior guitar experience is required. Students should provide their own acoustic guitar and be prepared to practice regularly outside of class to support their progress.

Discover the joy of making music with one of the most approachable instruments to learn! This beginner-friendly class introduces students to the fundamentals of ukulele playing in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment. Students will learn basic chords, strumming patterns, rhythm, music notation, proper technique, and instrument care while building the skills needed to play a variety of simple songs. Through guided instruction, practice, and group performances, students will develop musical confidence, coordination, listening skills, and an appreciation for music. No prior musical experience is required. Students should provide their own ukulele and be prepared to practice regularly outside of class to support their progress and enjoyment of the instrument.
Media Literacy & Journalism

In today's world, information is everywhere—but how do we know what to trust? In this engaging high school course, students will explore the principles of journalism, media literacy, and responsible communication while learning how news, information, and media influence society. Students will develop skills in research, interviewing, fact-checking, source evaluation, news writing, storytelling, and ethical reporting. Through hands-on projects, article writing, discussions, and media analysis, students will learn to identify bias, evaluate credibility, distinguish fact from opinion, and become thoughtful consumers and creators of media. This class is ideal for students interested in writing, communications, current events, public relations, marketing, journalism, or developing the critical-thinking skills necessary to navigate today's information-rich world.
Mini Documentary Project

Everyone has a story worth telling. In this hands-on high school media class, students will learn the art of documentary filmmaking as they research, plan, film, edit, and produce a short documentary on a topic of their choice. Throughout the semester, students will explore storytelling, interviewing techniques, research methods, script development, videography, audio recording, editing, and visual communication while learning how documentaries inform, inspire, and preserve important stories. Students will develop critical-thinking, communication, project management, and technical media skills as they bring their vision from concept to final production. The course will culminate in a completed mini-documentary that students can share with family, friends, and the community. This class is ideal for students interested in filmmaking, journalism, history, storytelling, media production, or creative communication. Students may be required to provide access to a smartphone, camera, or other recording device for portions of the project.
Props & Story Telling

Every great story comes to life through imagination, creativity, and the details that help audiences connect with the characters and world being portrayed. In this hands-on class for students in grades 3–8, learners will explore the art of storytelling through the creation of props, visual elements, and interactive presentations. Students will design and build simple props, costumes, sets, and story artifacts while learning how these elements contribute to compelling narratives in theater, film, literature, and oral storytelling. Through creative projects, collaborative activities, and storytelling exercises, students will develop communication skills, artistic expression, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in presenting ideas. Whether recreating scenes from favorite stories or inventing entirely new worlds, students will discover how creativity and craftsmanship can bring stories to life.
Stagecraft & Prop Master

In this hands-on class for students in grades 5–12, participants will explore the art and science of stagecraft through prop design, set construction, backstage management, and theatrical production support. Students will learn how scenery, props, lighting, organization, and technical planning work together to create memorable performances and immersive experiences. Through a variety of creative projects, students will design, build, problem-solve, and collaborate while developing practical skills in craftsmanship, planning, project management, and teamwork. Whether supporting a theatrical production, creating themed environments, or designing custom props, students will gain valuable real-world experience while discovering the essential role that behind-the-scenes creators play in bringing stories to life. This class is ideal for students who enjoy building, designing, organizing, creating, and working as part of a collaborative team.
